EXERCISE 24 Read and play through the tune slowly until you are familiar with it. Then, start by tapping your foot in a slow, even rhythm, and try to play the tune keeping in time with your foot. As you learn the tune, gradually increase your speed. This tune has a lot of notes that are adjacent in pitch, so make sure your note-to-note transitions are crisp, and that you hit each note at the right time. Also, the first part has some tricky breathing - practice changing between the upper and lower octaves cleanly. Continue until you have learned the tune and can play it at a moderate speed.
